Homework

Dear Parents/Caregivers Recently, at the 3-way conference, you chose which option you and your child wanted for homework in 2011. There were 3 options to choose from - these have been attached to this document. If you have not confirmed your choice we will assume that you have decided for option 1. If you would like to change your decision please let your child's teacher know.  The work for school based maths (in option 2 and 3) and NIE literacy programme (option3) will be posted each week on the school website under ‘Homework'.  The class teacher will direct each student as to which activity/worksheet is applicable for them. If you would rather have a hard copy worksheet given to your child each week then please let your class teacher know.  Schoolbased maths and NIE literacy will be posted every Friday for the coming week - it is expected that this work is finished and handed to the class teacher by the following Friday. Therefore the terminology we use at school for this area of homework is‘Friday to Friday.'

As the system is new, we are expecting some questions and clarifications from both students and families. Please contact your class teacher with these in the first instance and the Deputy Principal Suraya Esau if you need further direction.

Dear Parents/Caregivers

The homework for Term 3 will go on the website weekly on a Friday.

There will be a maths worksheet for your child based on his/her level and an NIE (Newspaper in Education) worksheet (Junior: Year 1-4, and Senior: Year 5-8) for the Option 3 people  and those who are fluent readers.

Students are required to read daily as guided by their class teacher in the senior school, and strategically according to the child’s teacher if he/she is in the junior school.

All classes will also have some kind of spelling program that will involve work at home to help develop your childs fluency in literacy.

Thanking you Suraya Esau Deputy Principal
