Welcome back.
Isn’t it great to have had such lovely weather for the holidays. Beginning this term there will be a strong emphasis on working co-operatively and using the Key Competency, Managing Self.
Maths continues with number knowledge and for measurement, we will be learning about time, starting with the days of the week. Geometry is about 2D shapes.
PE is on Tuesday afternoons. I’d appreciate it if suitable footwear is worn for outdoor activities. Our library day is a Friday. Your child will be able to borrow 1 book for the week. The Unit of Inquiry is about plants so we will be growing things!
Homework is back this week. That means, reading, spelling words and maths, all appropriate for your child’s level, given out on a Monday and due in on Fridays. Please check the book bag daily as I tend to use it for all forms of communication as well as homework. The book bag should be brought to school each day. You can also use the bag to send messages etc to school.
Check out the websites given on the homework sheet. These are really useful sites.
Remember that you are always welcome to come into the classroom. I will most likely give you something to do! If you are interested in being a ‘room parent’ on a regular basis, I would love to talk to you. As a room parent, you can give as much time as suits you. Even 30 minutes can be incredibly helpful.
‘BB’ will continue to come home with someone each day as a reward. BB has his own back pack and needs to be returned the next day. Take him out and about with you, but please take care of him!
The school has ‘Book Week’ coming up and at the end of that week there is a costume parade. Keep watch for more information. I’m looking forward to continuing working with your children.
